Topeka, Kansas - Mother Earth News' readership grew by 26 percent in 2012 - the second highest percentage among North America's 200 largest magazines, according to a survey conducted by an independent firm that studies magazine readership, the GfK MRI fall survey.

MRI measured Mother Earth News' total print readership at 2.5 million, up from 2.1 million. In addition, the study ranks Mother Earth News as the magazine that's most likely to be a reader's favorite, and the magazine's readers spent more time with Mother Earth News than readers did with any other - more than 68 minutes per issue.

Mother Earth News, is perennially ranked as one of the most popular and fastest-growing magazines. Every year since 2009, Mother Earth News has been among the top six magazines most likely to be a reader's favorite. The publication also held one of the top four spots for number of minutes spent reading each issue during that same time.

"The Mother Earth News staff works hard to stay relevant to our readers and to earn their trust. Given today's environmental and economic issues, the MRI study confirms that what we're doing hits a nerve," says Bryan Welch , Mother Earth News' publisher and editorial director.
