Kansas City, Missouri - Monsanto Company, a premier sponsor of the Progressive Agriculture Foundation (PAF) and the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program, recognized PAF at a recent awards ceremony for Missouri and Illinois Monsanto employees. PAF ranked in the top five organizations in the bi-state area where Monsanto employees volunteered their time during 2012.

Since the volunteer program began in June 2010, Monsanto employees have volunteered more than 100,000 hours and awarded over $500,000 in grants to non-profits in the Americas.

"Monsanto employees have an ingrained sense of safety in all aspects of their lives and it's a natural fit to also volunteer time and get involved with PAF Safety Days in order to share that safety culture in rural communities," says Brenda Cockrell, manager, volunteer programs, Monsanto and PAF board member. "The Safety Day program makes safety fun for kids, who in turn take the message home to their parents and grandparents."

Through contributions and partnerships with organizations like Monsanto Company, the Foundation is able to advance its commitment to keep rural children safe and healthy. Nearly 20,000 volunteers help to deliver the Safety Day program in more than 415 rural North American communities each year. Combined, volunteers contribute more than 157,250 hours of time each year.

"Monsanto has been a corporate sponsor of the farm Safety Day program for 15 years," says Randy J. Bernhardt, PAF chief administrative officer. "Their commitment to employees volunteering and coordinating farm Safety Day programs is very valuable and allows us to deliver successful safety education programs throughout rural North America."
