Derek Baune joins the Paulsen marketing team as its multimedia photographer and videographer. Derek grew up outside of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, where he acquired an interest in agriculture while working at a large-scale row-crop farm. During his time at South Dakota State University and Southeast Technical Institute, he gained expertise in photography along with shooting and editing video.
Derek is no novice in the outdoor arena. He's worked with key brands, including Krugerfarms.com, Under Armour, Wigwam, California Waterfowl and Habitat Forever, through media outlets in the outdoor recreation industry. His passion for photography and video first developed when he was in high school.
"I liked framing things and telling stories with images," Derek says. "The client opportunities here at Paulsen will provide great avenues for doing that."
While the process of mapping out concepts from beginning to finish is time consuming, Derek enjoys the creative control involved in designing visual content. Delivering a product beyond the client's expectations is a motivating factor that drives him to create quality work.
"Paulsen is not a cookie cutter operation, and that's why I feel lucky to be here," he comments.
Derek is an avid outdoorsmen. When he's not shooting with a camera, he spends his time hunting or fishing. He can also be found working with his year-old Vizsla dog to compete in field trials for hunting dogs.
